-Ethic for lawyers
It was generally presumed by most of the lay man that lawyers need no and possess no ethics in life. However, i believe it is not very true, below is a situation when lawyers could drop themselves into ethic dilemma.
A lawyer doing conveyancing work for an elderly lady decided, due to the client's age and frailty, to reduce the charges. Instead of billing her at the scale fee of $1200 she sent an account for $1000. The elderly lady misread the bill and sent the lawyer a cheque for $10,000. This presented the lawyer with a terrible ethical dilemma:
Should she keep it all for herself? or
Should she share the windfall with her partners.
Okay, it was just a joke about lawyer lack of ethic, even i'm not sure is it the real situation. The ethic course of lawyers may not be the same as many thoughts, such as not to help the bad men or not to lie. Lawyers ethic is merely asking them how to act professionally in their daily work.
I guess that's nothing ethic for the public and therefore the profession is presumed to be not ethical.
i shall end this post with a question to be answered by the public.
Q: if a criminal lawyer and a civil lawyer were both drowning, and you could only save one of them, would you go to lunch or read the paper?
